The nation’s emergency physicians are warning about the dangers of insect bites, specifically from ticks and mosquitoes, which can cause serious illnesses. Dr. Kathleen Cowling, Secretary-Treasurer of The American College of Emergency Physicians joins the show to discuss how to protect ourselves this summer. Guest Info Dr. Cowling is an attending physician for Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan and serves as core faculty for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program of the Synergy Medical Education Alliance and assistant clinical professor for College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University, where she also served as chief resident from 1994 to 95. At the state level, Dr. Cowling has served in numerous leadership roles, including president of the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians. At the national level, she has served as a member of ACEP's Public Relations Committee, State-Legislative and Regulatory Committee, and Education Committee. Dr. Cowling also has been the board liaison to the On-Call Task Force, the residency visit program, the Reimbursement Committee, and Membership Committee, in addition to other programs.
