Vitamin D Deficiency in Kids
Topic Info
Pediatricians are now recommending more Vitamin D for kids! Recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics, announced their recommendation to double the daily Vitamin D intake for healthy infants, children and adolescents from 200 IU Vitamin D to 400 IU. Vitamin D is essential to good bone health, not only for growing children but for adults as well, and accumulating scientific evidence suggests that it may also help protect against chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and high blood pressure and some types of cancer. Joining the show is the current chair of the AAP Committe on Nutrition, Dr. Jatinder Bhatia to discuss how vitamin D is important.
