Topic Info
December 1 is World AIDS Day. More than 1 million people are living with HIV in the U.S., and 1 in 5 of them is unaware of their infection. This means more than 200,000 Americans may be transmitting the virus to others without knowing it, and aren’t receiving HIV treatments that could prolong their lives. More than 14,000 people with AIDS in the U.S. still die each year.

Dr. Jonathan Mermin, director of CDC's Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) joins the show to discuss the impact of HIV in the United States and steps you can take to protect yourselves and your loved ones.
