Sean McDonald, Precision Therapeutics’ President and CEO has dedicated the past decade to developing innovative technology with the goal of improving outcomes for cancer patients. “Cancer is a complex disease that has touched everyone’s life at one time or another. I lost my own mother to cancer and personally understand the loss so many families experience with this horrible disease. It is Precision’s goal to impact cancer patient outcomes by developing the most advanced technology available for individualizing cancer care today. We want to change the ‘one size fits all’ label that has historically directed cancer therapy choices for both physicians and patients.” Because of Sean’s passion, leadership, and vision, Precision Therapeutics remains at the forefront of personalized diagnostics and research for individualized cancer therapy. He most recently led Precision to earn a first place ranking as an industry leader in the health care division and third place across all industries on the Pittsburgh Business Times 2010 Top 100 list, which identifies the area’s fastest-growing, privately held companies. An 18-year veteran of the healthcare and life science industry, Sean founded Automated Healthcare in 1992, developing the first robotics-based solution to hospital pharmacy management. The company was sold to the McKesson Corporation in 1996 and Sean continued on as Group President where he produced annualized revenues in excess of $300 million. Sean’s commitment to improving the quality of healthcare through unique technology development is highlighted in his role as Chairman Emeritus of the Pittsburgh Technology Council and as board member of the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative Board. In addition, he maintains a role as a member of the Board of Overseers for the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Sean has received numerous professional awards and recognition for his technical and financial achievements, and continues to support many national and local advocacies in the fight against cancer. Sean received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Florida.
