How can parents help children who have developed a fear of the dentist? Guest Info Dr. Segura graduated from dental school in 1990 from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. She then completed a general practice residency program in 1991 from Miami Veterans Hospital in Florida. She received her certificate and masters degree in Pediatric Dentistry in 1993 from the University of Iowa. She was the director of the General Practice Residency and Hospital Dentistry at the University of Iowa from 1993 through 1999. She was the Predoctoral Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Program from 1999 to 2005 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). She was the the Interim-Chair for the Department of Community Dentistry at the UTHSCSA and the Director of Ricardo Salinas Clinic for three years. She also holds additional appointments as Professor, in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry and the Department of Pediatrics. She is currently the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
