Dr. David Beigler. M.D. comes on the show to discuss Femoral Acetabular Impingement and the procedure that is helping to preserve the hip. It is common in high level athletes, but also occurs in active individuals.
David Beigler, M.D., is Section Head of Trauma in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore). Dr. Beigler is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in trauma, fracture care, treatment of pelvic, acetabular and hip joint problems. Dr. Beigler is well-known for treating special orthopaedic conditions, including impingement problems of the hip (femoral-acetabular impingement), preservation of the hip via arthroscopic and open surgical procedures, and total hip replacement via the anterior approach. Dr. Beigler earned his medical degree and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Loyola University Medical School. He completed two fellowships: one at Harvard University-Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston; and the other in orthopaedic trauma at the University of Toronto. In addition to being an attending orthopaedic surgeon at NorthShore for nearly 30 years, he is also on faculty at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
