Holiday Travel & Medication Tips

The American Pharmacists Association is asking holiday travelers to add one more item to their packing checklists: talking with their pharmacists. Pharmacist Maria Mantione comes on the show to discuss help travelers know the best way to pack their medications, what to do if medications are lost, and hear some tips on travel and medication. She will also discuss what Vitamins and Supplements you should take with you to keep healthy through your holiday travels.

Dr. Mantione is currently Associate Clinical Professor of community pharmacy practice at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professionals in Queens, New York. She practices as a pharmacist at the King Kullen Pharmacy and Wellness Place in Levittown, New York. She specializes in nonprescription medications and patient education and holds specialty certifications in immunizations and as a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. She acts as a media advisor to the American Pharmacists Association and has been interviewed for numerous magazine articles about medication use. In addition, Dr. Mantione serves as the “Ask the Pharmacist” message board moderator for myalli.com, and was featured on WebMD’s third season of Ask the Pharmacist. She currently is serving her first term as a member of the New York State Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Mantione graduated from St. Johns University with her BS in Pharmacy in 1996 and her Doctor of Pharmacy in 1998. She then completed a community practice residency at the University of Maryland in 1999.
