Guest(s) Practicing Mission Hospital Physicians Dr. Michael Cummings, M.D. and Dr. Haygoush Kalinian, PhD Topic Diagnosis & Treatment of Neurological Disorders Topic Info Dr. Michael Cummings has been practicing at Mission Hospital since 1984. As a neurologist, he has dedicated his practice to investigating, diagnosing and treating many forms of neurological disorders, such as: stroke, seizure, headache, and behavioral and cognitive disorders. Dr. Cummings is Board Certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been a Diplomat with the National Board of Medical Examiners since 1979. Upon completion of his neurological residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1982, Dr. Cummings moved to California and was hired as a clinical assistant professor for University of California, Irvine’s department of neurology.
Dr. Cummings is a very active board member in the neurology field. He is currently
Mission Hospital’s Chief of Neurology and Medical Director of the Mission Stroke
Center and sits on Mission’s Medicine Executive Committee. Dr. Cummings blends
science and humanity to help relieve patients of illness and suffering. In his off time,
he also enjoys tennis, golf and tinkering with computers.
Dr. Haygoush Kalinian is a licensed Psychologist / Neuropsychologist and credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She is engaged in private practice in the areas of Forensic and Clinical Neuropsychological evaluation and treatment of adults and the elderly who suffer from traumatic brain injury, post-concussive syndrome, stroke, Attention-Deficit-Disorder (ADD/ADHD), seizure disorder, epilepsy, anoxic injuries, dementia (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease), and other neurological, medical, and psychiatric disorders. Additionally, Dr. Kalinian is a consultant to the Department of Medicine at Mission Hospital and an adjunct faculty at Argosy University/Orange County Campus. Dr. Kalinian also conducts workshops, presents locally and nationally, and publishes on topics related to brain disorders and neuropsychology.
