Keany Jr., M.D. joined the medical staff at Mission Hospital as an attending physician in the Emergency Department. Dr. Keany is a leader and educator, bringing an acute knowledge of emergency medicine to the hospital campus and the community. Among his numerous contributions to the hospital, he has personally led the advancement of care for septic patients at Mission Hospital. He is currently a chapter author and editor of the highly successful online medical portal, eMedicine.com. His insight and experience are shared across the Southland, as Dr. Keany (a.k.a. “Dr. Jim”) is frequently featured as a medical analyst on “The Bill Handel Show” on KFI 640AM. In addition, he’s been a featured medical expert on programs that have aired on national television networks including NBC and TLC.
Dr. Keany is Board Certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is also is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Sports Medicine and the California Medical Association. His passion for travel and community service has taken him on medical expeditions to Tonga, Papua New Guinea and El Salvador. In addition to his work at Mission Hospital, he is the current Medical Director for JetWest International Air Ambulance, where he has also served as a Flight Surgeon. A long time resident of Southern California, Dr. Keany completed his medical doctorate at the University of California at Los Angeles and presently resides in Orange County with his wife and three boys.
