Dr. Larry Kvols, Section Chief, Neuroendocrine Oncology Program at The Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute joins the show to answer these tough questions. Guest Info Dr. Larry Kvols has spent more than 25 years studying the evaluation and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors with a focus on carcinoid tumors, malignant carcinoid syndrome, and islet cell carcinomas. His research has been published in more than 180 peer reviewed medical journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer, Cancer Research, American Journal of Medicine and Annals of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kvols has been invited to lecture on his research throughout the United States and internationally in more than 30 countries. He has presented his research at numerous key conferences, including American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society of Medical Oncology, American Cancer Society, Digestive Disease Week, European Neuroendocrine Tumor Network Educational Meeting, Board Review Courses at Harvard Medical School and the Society of Nuclear Medicine Annual Meetings. In addition, he has chaired symposiums for the European Neuroendocrine Association, European Association of Nuclear Medicine and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Kvols received his medical degree with high honors from Baylor College of Medicine. He was an intern and resident and completed one year of fellowship in hematology and oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He concluded his oncology and hematology training at the National Cancer Institute’s Baltimore Cancer Research Center before joining the staff at the Mayo Clinic. While at the Mayo Clinic, he became Professor of Oncology at the Mayo Medical School.
