Icilma V. Fergus,MD was appointed Chief of Cardiology at Columbia University Harlem Hospital Center in April 2007, prior to that, she was the Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology of New York Hospital Queens - a New York Presbyterian hospital for four years. Her academic appointment is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, New York. She has authored or coauthored numerous articles on various topics related to heart disease and congestive heart failure in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Fergus is an active member of many professional memberships, including the American Society of Hypertension, American Society of Echocardiography, and the American College of Cardiology.In addition, Dr. Fergus sits on the board of directors for the Association of Black Cardiologists, where she currently serves on the Executive Committee as Secretary. Dr. Fergus and the Division of Cardiology at Harlem Hospital continue to provide educational information and are involved in eliminating health care disparities in the Harlem and many other communities.
