Guest Info
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 7 months old after losing nearly half his body-weight, Phil Southerland, now 26, already counts among his achievements the founding of Team Type 1 and a pair of victories for the team in RAAM. His personal accomplishments and desire to help others with diabetes have led to dozens of national engagements as a motivational speaker. Joe Eldridge was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 10. After competing on elite soccer teams across the country, his interests gave way to competitive cycling at Auburn University. With numerous titles to both of their names, both Southerland and Eldridge joined the ranks of professional cycling in 2008 and look forward to achieving even greater success going forward as pro cyclists living with type 1 diabetes.
