Scott Seaman and his wife, Charlene join the show to discuss their new book, “Battling And Beating Cancer – The Cancer Survival Book” and their battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. They will discuss, from the perspectives of cancer survivor and caregiver, the steps that cancer patients can take to beat cancer from selecting doctors, to obtaining a prompt and proper diagnosis, to evaluating treatment options, to developing a cancer warrior mentality, to informing yourself along the way. They will also discuss their national call to action for curing cancer and what survivors can do to help others.

Scott Seaman is a corporate trial lawyer at Meckler, Bulger Tilson, Marick & Pearson LLP in Chicago and a survivor of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He credits his wife Charlene McMann-Seaman for his beating cancer. Together, the couple embarked upon a mission of curing cancer by helping raise awareness and millions of dollars for cancer research and through education and patient advocacy. Charlene and Scott spearheaded the Lymphomathon 5K walk/run (which is now in 16 cities) and co-founded a chapter of a national blood cancer organization. They are co-founders of “Chicago Curing Lymphoma and Leukemia Consortium,” a new non-profit organization focused on funding cutting edge blood cancer research and serving patients through attracting and retaining high caliber physicians and researchers. Charlene was awarded a Jefferson Award (the Nobel Prize for public service) for her work. Scott and Charlene serve on the National Board of Selector of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service.
