Moms and Dads and the Internet: Pediatric Information

The Internet is an amazing resource for information and entertainment. Children learn how to use computers and the Internet almost as soon as they go to school. In fact, children often know far more about computers and the Internet than parents do because parents have fewer opportunities to learn about computers and the Internet unless it is required in the workplace.

Dr.Jamie A. Freishtat, MD, FAAP comes on the show to help parents navigate the internet for pediatric information and to help parents make sense of all the blogs, forums and parent groups.

Jamie A. Freishtat, MD, FAAP is a board certified Pediatrician. She graduated from Colgate University and obtained her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital. In 2006, Dr. Freishtat cofounded MommyDocs LLC and MommyDocs.com, a pediatric website for moms. From 2006-2009, she devoted her time to this endeavor. Dr. Freishtat also moonlights in the Fast Track/Emergency Clinic at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC.

In addition, Dr. Freishtat has been featured on local and national television and radio discussing pediatric issues. She has also contributed to print publications and internet articles. She enjoys discussing pediatric issues from the standpoint of being a mom and a doctor.

Dr. Freishtat lives in the suburbs of Washington DC with her husband (who is also a pediatrician), 2 sons, and dog.
