Dr. Frank H. Lucido (MD) has been practicing Family and General Medicine in Berkeley, California since 1979. Since the passage of the California Compassionate Use Act of 1996, he has been performing Medical Cannabis evaluations, and has written and lectured on the subject. In 2004, he co-authored the widely read article “Implementation of the Compassionate Use Act in a Family Medical Practice” with Mariavittoria Mangini, PhD, FNP. This article is designed to be a blueprint for physicians in making safe and appropriate recommendations for a safe and effective medicine. Dr. Lucido is a founding member of the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine and founder of MedicalBoardWatch.com and the Association of Independent Medical-Legal Consultants (AIMLegal.org) He is one of the co-proponents of the Repeal Cannabis Prohibition Act of 2012.
Dr. Arif Khan (MD) is a former surgeon who has found cannabis remarkably effective for his own medical conditions and works in San Francisco providing medical cannabis consultations. He focuses on integrating cannabis as an alternative holistic remedy to each patient's treatment plan. With his medical clinic and personal experience, he has developed clinical guidelines helping new patients navigate the often confusing world of cannabis.
Dr. Khan is licensed by the Medical Board of California. He attended medical school at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and trained as a surgeon at a University of Pennsylvania affiliated program in Philadelphia. He also did cancer research at Imperial College in London. Subsequently he was on staff at the University of Southern California and practiced general, oncologic and hepato-biliary/pancreatic surgery. Now he provides consultations in San Francisco for patients who might benefit from cannabis. His approach is to reduce harm and guide patients in the selection of strains of cannabis that would provide maximal benefit with least harm as an adjunct to conventional and other holistic treatment options.
Dr. Dale Gieringer (PhD) has been the state director of California NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) since 1987. He has published research on the economic benefits of legalization, medical marijuana usage, the history of marijuana and drug prohibition, potency testing, marijuana and driving safety, and drug urinalysis. He sponsored path-breaking R&D on vaporizers as a smoke-free delivery system for cannabis. He has testified before the legislature, local governments, and courts on issues related to marijuana. He was one of the original co-authors of California's medical marijuana initiative, Prop. 215, the proponent of Oakland’s Measure Z cannabis initiative in 2004. a sponsor of California's pathbreaking legalization bill, AB 390, and a consultant on numerous other cannabis reform campaigns.
