Dr. David Winchester Bio -
Dr. David J. Winchester is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer at Northshore University Healthsystem. He is recognized nationally for leading surgical research trials in breast cancer. His accomplishments also include being a member of the Northshore surgical team in 2006 as part of the One Million Women Breast Cancer Screening Project. In 1999, he joined a similar team that conducted a surgical humanitarian mission in Russia. Dr. Winchester graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed his residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was also a surgical research fellow. He then completed a surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.


Dr. Wendy Rubinstein Bio -
Wendy S. Rubinstein, MD, PhD is the Medical Director of the Northshore University Healthsystem Healthcare Center for Medical Genetics. She is an expert on adult genetic disorders. Dr. Rubinstein has established one of the largest adult genetics clinical services in the United States, growing at a rate of 25% per year. The Center for Medical Genetics is staffed by four Board Certified genetic counselors. Dr. Rubinstein, herself, is one of only 115 physicians in the U.S. certified by both the American Board of Medical Genetics and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Rubinstein’s clinical research focuses on hereditary cancers, with an emphasis on early cancer detection and prevention. She is developing new microarray technologies to provide fast, low cost screening for women diagnosed with breast cancer to help determine whether BRCA1 genetic testing is indicated.
