Dr. Theodore Benderev has been practicing with Mission Hospital since 1987, with a specialty in Urology. He has been a member of the Mission Hospital Foundation Board since 2003 and served as Chief of the Division of Urology in Mission Hospital’s Surgery Executive Committee from 1988 to 1999. His philosophy of care is anchored in a comprehensive approach to urological and gynecological needs, and is committed to every patient, no matter how difficult their problem. He first chose to go into Pelvic Medicine because of the “tremendous opportunity for improving a patient’s quality of life.”

Benderev has extensive research experience in various urology treatments, from radiofrequency treatments to surgery devices. He even won the First Prize for Clinical Research from the Western Section American Urological Association Meeting in 1992. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Urological Association and the International Continence Society. In addition to being published in numerous medical publications such as Urology Times and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, he holds dozens of patents on medical devices and methods, such as a bladder neck suspension procedure and a bone anchor installation device.
