Peggy Kirkwood, RN -
Peggy Kirkwood, RN, ACNPC, has been a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years. She began her work at Mission Hospital 13 years ago as a staff nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit, while she was attending graduate school. She has always been involved in some element of cardiac care, including heart failure, cardiac surgery, or interventional cardiology. Her expertise in cardiac care and education continued to grow after she received her master’s degree as an acute care nurse practitioner. This specialized education allows a nurse to examine patients, order and interpret diagnostic studies, diagnose disease, and provide medical treatment in conjunction with the physician. Kirkwood now functions as a nurse practitioner and is responsible for managing the care of cardiovascular patients admitted to Mission Heart Center. She also coordinates outpatient services for heart failure and open heart surgery patients, and provides them with essential tools to promote a healthier quality of life.
Kirkwood holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing and an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a member of several professional organizations. Since 1999, Kirkwood has been certified as an acute care nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and since 2007, by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation. Over the last seven years, Kirkwood has been invited to speak on a variety of topics, including: Heart Disease, Heart Failure, Cholesterol Management, and Women and Heart Disease. She believes that every person should be treated as a whole—their body, mind and spirit. In her spare time, Kirkwood likes to read, go to the movies and travel.
Christine Menasherov, RN -
Christine Menasherov, RN, joined Mission Hospital in 2006 as a cardiovascular nurse, working in the cardiac intensive care unit.
