Dr Robert Pennington received his Medical Degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed two years of General surgical training and then pursued his Orthopedic training also at Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston South Carolina. He has been in private practice in North Carolina since 1997. Dr Pennington is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in General Orthopedic Surgery as well as Subspecialty Board Certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American College of Sports Medicine, in addition to State and Regional Orthopedic Societies. Dr Pennington’s interests include arthroscopic and less invasive surgery of the Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Knee, and Ankle. Special techniques include arthroscopic assisted peripheral nerve releases. His interest in clinical practice includes treating athletes of all ages with proven surgical techniques as well as Evidence based approaches to conservative measures and overseeing rehabilitation. He has had an active presence in community activities as sponsor and coach of basketball and soccer teams, as well as providing on field medical coverage for area teams in soccer and football.
