Craig Broeder, Ph.D., FACSM, is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and director of clinical exercise physiology at Benedictine University, near Chicago. In May 2009, he began a 9,000-mile cycling trip around the perimeter of the United States to raise money for ovarian cancer research and prevention, and to honor the 20-year ovarian cancer survival anniversary of his wife, Kay. Broeder completed his 100-day journey in late August, and continues to bring awareness to ovarian cancer. All proceeds from his trek will be donated to the ACSM Foundation, in order to fund ovarian cancer research.
