Rudi Moerck joined Valensa in 2005 and led the management team to implement a new corporate strategy focused on creating a science-based developer of botanically sourced products for human health and well-being. Dr. Moerck joined Valensa after 27 years of experience in the life sciences industries including being principal inventor of RenaZorbĀ® a new kidney drug currently undergoing clinical trials for FDA approval.
Prior to Valensa, Rudi worked for several public companies including positions as President of Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI), President of the Pharmaceutical Division of Cambrex (CBM), VP and General Manager of Catalytica Pharmaceuticals and as Vice President of Peroxygens at Degussa AG and Degussa Corporation. He speaks German fluently and has extensive international experience having worked and lived in Chile, Switzerland and Germany.
At Catalytica Pharmaceuticals, two years after the acquisition of a Glaxo Wellcome site in Greenville, NC for $125 million, Rudi led the team that sold the business for $780 million. Rudi started a pharmaceutical consulting business and advised Blackstone Group on active pharmaceutical ingredients acquisitions.
Rudi received a BS degree in Biology from Florida Southern College and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Organic Chemistry. He was a NIH postdoctoral fellow at Ohio State and taught chemistry at Ohio State and Ohio Wesleyan Universities.
