Guest Info
When life took the shape of a new apartment, an elopement, and a newborn baby, newlyweds Brooke Parkhurst and James Briscione made a promise to each other that they would always
share the kitchen duties, and never let life get boring.
As a sous chef in Restaurant Chef Daniel Boulud’s private dining room, James cooked for presidents and celebrities. On Food Network’s “Chopped” and “Chopped Champions” series, he became the series’ first-ever two-time champion. James’s talent in the kitchen has even been auctioned for charity, raising $30,000 for a dinner. Today, James is a chef instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education.
For Brooke, cooking and writing runs in the family: Brooke’s father owned a publishing business and her mother was a food journalist for the local newspaper. Brooke moved to New York City with dreams of becoming a television journalist. She was tapped as host of ABC’s digital cable food series, “Eat & Greet,” and served as lifestyle and cooking correspondent for Conde Nast’s debut web network. Eventually, Brooke discovered a way to combine her two great loves–writing and cooking– by publishing her debut novel with recipes, Belle In the Big Apple (Scribner, 2008). Today, Brooke pens an online food column, “Full Plate,” for the New York Daily News. Together with James, she teaches a series of sell-out couples cooking classes at the Institute of Culinary Education.
