Topic
New Medical Devices That Could Improve Medical Care
Topic Info
Most physicians can recall numerous occasions where they have thought of a new medical device that would improve medical care for their patients but were powerless to drive the creation of those devices. Most devices do not represent a "cure for cancer" and therefore are often not thought to warrant the time and expense required for development, testing and commercialization in Academic and Industry Research centers despite the fact that they would have a great impact on patient care and outcomes.

Roger Huckfeldt, MD, FACS Medical Director St John's Medical Research Institute, comes on the show to discuss how the medical industry can benefit from looking toward forward thinking research to improve the outcomes of patients. His very active R&D section at St John's Medical Research Institute focused on resolution of problems their clinicians face in their daily practice.
