Foster Care and Adoption
Approximately 800,000 children spend time in foster care each year and there are approximately 500,000 children in foster care on any given day. Children and adolescents in foster care are some of this nation's most vulnerable citizens. They have a host of unmet health needs, including physical, mental, developmental, emotional, educational and dental health needs. The AAP Task Force on Foster Care is addressing the health and well-being needs of children and youth in foster care.
Dr. Walter M. Fierson, M.D. comes on the show to discuss important information for those considering fostering a child and how to go about adopting a child.
