Topic Info
Dr. Jane Foy, chair of the AAP Task Force on Mental Health, comes on the show to give expert advice to parents dealing with everything from anxiety, bedwetting, and school phobias,to more severe forms of mental health issues with their children. She will address questions such as how do parents know when their child is having a problem that could benefit from some intervention? What signs can you look for? What are some strategies to ease a child's anxiety? What can your pediatrician handle, and when should you seek a child psychiatrist? How can parents build their child's resilience in general? The AAP is publishing a new "mentalhealth toolkit" for pediatricians to help them handle more mental health issues in their practice.
