Health at the speed of sound. You're listening to Health Radio. You're listening to Health Radio. It's time for sound information about your health with Dr. David Friedman and Melanie Cole, it's “To Your Good Health”. Brought to you by Chews for Health, the natural chewable dietary supplement everybody's talking about. Here are your hosts, Dr. David Friedman and Melanie Cole.

Melanie Cole: Hi and welcome to the show. Thanks so much for listening. I'm glad you could join us at “To Your Good Health” with Dr. David Friedman. I'm his co-host, Melanie Cole and in this segment, we are going to meet Dr. Friedman. He's a disciplined visionary and a man of action. He's known as the chiropractor to the stars. He's a Naturopathic physician, health expert for Lifetime's hit morning TV show “The Balancing Act”, which I can't wait to find out about that, creator of the world's first full spectrum, super fruit sea vegetable, and anti-oxidant chewables, Chews for Health. Dr. Friedman, welcome to the show, I'm so glad to be with you today.

Dr. Friedman: Welcome, Melanie.

Melanie Cole: Well, you sound like such a busy man, Dr. Friedman. Why don't you tell us about yourself?

Dr. Friedman: Well, first I want to welcome everybody to the very first “To Your Good Health” show, and here is my promise to all of you listening. I'm going to always try my best to bring you a full hour of doubts about what you thought you knew, make you think about things you need to know, and I am going to totally change the way you look at food, diet, diseases, nutrition, and even exercise. I am going to share a lot of scientific evidence, but I am not a super geek here. I am going to bring it down to reality as well, and I am going to give you some good common sense, and really speak to you heart to heart. I've been a nutritionist for 21 years and I am not only a teacher of nutrition, I'm also pretty much a daily student, so I don't consider myself just a teacher, I'm a student. I'm constantly learning and growing and readjusting my thinking. And really what we have told benefits us last year, may not be good for you this year. So, I am going to expose myths, lies, and deceit from the food industry, from government agencies, and even from the vitamin industry.

Melanie Cole: Well, that sounds fascinating, Dr. Friedman. I can't wait to learn everything from you. You know, you have been in the business for so long. Tell us about Chews for Health. What is Chews for Health?

Dr. Friedman: Well, Chews for Health is the world's first chewable, super fruit, sea vegetable, anti-oxidant dietary supplement. So, it's a chewable; it's convenient; it's all in one. Fourteen (14) leading manufacturers said, “Dr. Friedman, it just can't be done”. I approached fourteen (14) of the leading. And, you know, I remember hearing a man named Thomas Edison. I learned about him. He was told the light bulb couldn't be done. So, I wrote a statement on my mirror that I read everyday and it said this. “life's delays, are not life's denials”. So, I refused to take no for an answer and after a three and a half year journey, the formulation became a reality. Chews for Health contains sixteen (16) powerful ingredients. I call it the best from land and sea.

Melanie Cole: You know, I've started taking them, and I feel fantastic. What makes them so different? You say the best from land and sea. What's in them? What makes them different than if I go and get a pill from Walgreen's?

Dr. Friedman: Well, the key is you can get all these ingredients in liquids, you can get them in pills, there is nothing great, wow, this is such a unique ingredient. But, what I did is, I looked for the very best of land and sea, the best the planet had to offer, and the key is putting it into a chewable. That's the key. Can you name, Melanie, any type of food you swallow? Think about it, swallow whole without chewing. There's nothing.

Melanie Cole: Um, no. I would chew everything. I don't want to choke on it.

Dr. Friedman: Think about it, vegetables, meat, bread, we always chew before we swallow. And let me tell you, there's a scientific reason for that. We take it for granted, we just chew. But, really, we have teeth created to break down what we eat into small particles. We have saliva in our mouth that contains three (3) powerful digestive enzymes to break down what we chew. And you know what, this happens before it reaches the stomach. So really, digestion begins in the mouth. When you take these vitamins in pill form, here's the key, you're skipping that vital digestive process. Melanie, your grandma, her mom, and her mom, had something in common, none of them ever swallowed a vitamin pill. Only in the last seventy (70) years has man created these pills you swallow, it just goes against nature.

Melanie Cole: Well, I know that it does and that's why I'm looking so forward to hearing all the information. Because, you know, some of these things, it's so dizzying, Dr. Friedman, to hear the things that we hear all over the media and television. Of course, not here, not “Too Your Good Health”. But, you know, it gets dizzying, the information, and it's very confusing.

Dr. Friedman: And, not just dizzying, you know. It's a tough economy out there and what really bothers me is seeing these people spending money on these pills that aren't being absorbed. If I went and I took money out of your wallet, and I stole it from you, I could go to jail. But, if you go and buy these vitamins in pill form and they pass right through you and you don't absorb it, there's no jail time. But, that's stealing to me. Cities from all over the country are pulling undigested vitamins out of their septic filters. Port-A-Potty attendees find gallons of these undigested pills showing up in Port-O-Johns. Undigested pills are so common, you ready for this? Hospital orderlies have a nickname for them, that's how common they are, here is what it's called - bed pan bullets.

Melanie Cole: That's nice.

Dr. Friedman: No, and they're even showing up on patients' x-rays. Physicians seem they all the time on the lower intestines on people's x-rays. So, it's really proves ________. And then, in the 90s, I discovered something interesting, page 1542 of the “Physicians Desk Reference”. That's the medical bible and what it showed is vitamins and minerals in pill form are only 10% absorbed. So, let's get back to what I said about being robbed. Would you give me $100 for a $10 bill?

Melanie Cole: Well, no.

Dr. Friedman: No, and isn't that what you are doing when you are taking vitamin pills that are 10% absorbed? You are paying for money that you are not using, and that means wasted value, wasted money. And, that's the key with the chewable. It is broken down in the mouth where digestion begins, so you get to use what you take, not just take and not use what you swallowed, that's the key difference.

Melanie Cole: Well, and even if the PDR, the Physicians Desk Reference, you know, that is the medical bible, and I never realized that it even just said that 10% were absorbed. So . . .

Dr. Friedman: And, I'll tell you why. It's these pills, they're created with binders, and fillers, and oxidants, carbonates, shells, all these ingredients were designed to keep that capsule and tablet so binned together that it still does it's job when it's in your stomach. You don't have teeth down there. We can't break it up. It's a solid form and we weren't designed to digest anything whole.

Melanie Cole: Now, I've been giving it to my children, Dr. Friedman, and they love the way that it tastes. I give them one everyday. So, you know, this is safe for children because they need this stuff too, you know? Even if they eat healthy, my children, they need this too, don't they?

Dr. Friedman: They actually need it more than you because their cells are still growing and so vulnerable to the, you know, the forces out there, and the pollution, and all this processed foods they eat at school and this junk and candy. So, yeah, they really need nutrition because we're grown up, we need it, but, you know as the twig is bent, they say, so grows the tree. So, if you catch it early before it's growth potential, you can really create problems, or get rid of problems that you wouldn't have when you were an adult, by taking care of yourself when you're young, and kids do love them. We were featured in the show called “Kid's Spaces”, which is from the producers of the award winning show, “Designing Spaces” and we were chosen as one of the best supplements in the entire country for children.

Melanie Cole: That's just excellent. I love to hear that. Now, will you share with the listeners, Dr. Friedman, what you cover on your Lifetime Show, “The Balancing Act”? It sounds so exciting.

Dr. Friedman: Well, it is exciting and what's neat about it is I'm able to share, first of all it's at 7:30 a.m., I'm on Monday, it's on Lifetime Network, and I've shared topics on the dangers of artificial sweeteners. I talk about how milk causes weak bones. That's right, causes bones to go weak. I talk about how diet soft drinks cause obesity. Yes, these drinks we buy to lose weight, makes us gain weight. I talk about how sit-ups and crunches are the worst way to create a trim set of abs, and give an alternative. I have interviewed celebrities and “New York Times” best selling authors on many diet and nutrition related topics. Here's the challenge though, I'm limited to five (5) and six (6) minutes on the show. And, I think they call it Lifetime because they spend their life cutting down your time, because that is what they do to me. I'm like, you know, it's great I just interviewed Suzzane Somers, and it was a good fifteen (15), twenty (20) minute interview and, of course, in the world of TV, that's going to be cut down to five (5) minutes. Dr. _______, who's on our network, he interviewed him, he's the author of the youth series of books. He's been on Oprah several times with Dr. Oz, and his interview ended up being twenty-five (25) minutes of great info, they had to cut it down to five (5) minutes. So, it's neat to be on this show, this forum, where we don't have to cut people off after three (3) to five (5) minutes.

Melanie Cole: And, Dr. Micheal _______ is here on Health Radio as well. So, he's on this network with us and we'll be able to have him on the show. We can really talk about all of these things, Dr. Friedman, and you can teach us all in as much time as you need.

Dr. Friedman: That's great. You know, it's because I asked him a simple question. I said “can you name one of the best ways we can do to keep our bodies younger and live longer and he says “well, I've got 5”, and he starts with one (1), two (2), and by the time he gets to two (2), we're nine (9) minutes, and I'm like oh, and I can't cut him off because he started with the five (5) and I said “man, I would love to get these 5 on the air”, but we have to edit all that out. But, we'll get him on here and talk about all five (5), which will be great, very interesting stuff.

Melanie Cole: Oh, well I look forward to that because, you know, he's interesting and you're fascinating. I can't wait to learn all these things because, and some stuff I'll agree with you and some stuff I just might not, is that okay?

Dr. Friedman: Yes, that's America.

Melanie Cole: Okay. Well, we're going to take a break now, and when we come back with Dr. David Friedman, we are going to talk about synthetic nutrients and whole food nutrition. He's going to tell us about the vitamin industry and some of the lies and myths, he's going to clear up for us. And, we are going to talk about Vitamin E and Vitamin C. Remember, you can send us an email askthedoctor@toyourgoodhealthradio.com. You can podcast these shows twenty-four (24) hours a day on demand, and I know you are going to want to.
