Teenagers and young adults are also exposed to UVR in tanning salons.
Dr.Deborah Ann Mulligan, MD FAAP FACEP comes on the show to discuss the new reccommendations on tanning and sun safety. Along with the World Health Organization, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Dermatology, the AAP supports legislation prohibiting access to tanning salons or use of artificial tanning devices by children under the age of 18. Guest Info Dr. Deborah Mulligan received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of San Francisco and Medical Doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles. Director of the Institute for Child Health Policy and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Nova Southeastern University she reports directly to the Chancellor. Board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, past experience as physician executive includes role of Pediatric Services Medical Director for nation's 4th largest safety net hospital system serving a county of 1.6 million residents.
