He will discuss which ones are the best for your body type. Guest Info Thomas Altena is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Missouri-Columbia after completing his doctoral work in Health and Human Performance at Oklahoma State University. He has authored and co-authored a variety research in topics such as: 1) comparison of elliptical and treadmill exercise, 2) body composition methods, and 3) lowering triglycerides to prevent heart disease with accumulated exercise versus a single exercise session. Thomas also is a sponsored triathlete and marathon runner. This past year completed the 29th annual Steamboat Spring marathon in Colorado and also the 70.3 mile half-ironman in Branson, Missouri. Thomas exercise occurs in the extremes of heat indices greater than 115?F and wind chills as low as -40?F. Thomas is a widowed father of two little boys who also are very active in swim team, sports teams, running and cycling.
