Dr. Timothy Platts-Mills is an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career goal is to conduct research to better understand the role of pain and immobility in the development of functional limitations after minor trauma in older adults. Dr. Platts-Mills is supported by an National Institute of Health-funded institutional career development award to gain skills need to conduct this research. Dr. Platts-Mills’ primary mentor for this work is Dr. Sam McLean, an emergency physician and national expert in the etiology of persistent pain and psychological sequelae after trauma.
