ACEP Board member, Dr. Michael Gerardi joins the show to discuss the dangers associated with elderly people falling. Winter is right around the corner and those numbers will increase with the inclement weather. What can be done to help prevent these dangerous and possibly life-threatening spills and accidents?

Dr. Michael Gerardi in on the ACEP Board of Directors. He’s from Morristown, NJ, serving on the faculty for emergency medicine/pediatric emergency medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he is the director of pediatric medicine at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital. He is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

A Coucillor in ACEP since 1998, Dr. Gerardi is a member of the Medical Legal Committee and the ACEP/AAP Advanced Pediatric Life Support Task Force. He has served on the Finance Committee and Section Affairs Committee and previously chaired the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Committee. Dr. Gerardi has been active in the New Jersey Chapter of ACEP, having been elected Treasurer and Secretary prior to tenure as president from 2001-2002.

Dr. Gerardi graduated from Georgetown University Medical School and completed his residency training at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta.
