Dr. Archana Reddy is an emergency physician and journalist. She obtained her masters in journalism from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1999 and went on to study medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating in 2004. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at George Washington University in Washington, DC. In addition to her work as a full-time emergency physician in the suburbs of Chicago, she is also a national spokesperson for the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Reddy has written articles on health for the New Physician magazine, ABCnews.com and many other publications. While at ABC news, she worked with chief medical correspondent, Dr. Timothy Johnson, as well as health correspondent, Lisa Stark, to produce stories that aired on World News Tonight.
Recently she produced and directed a documentary called “Beyond Expectations: Exercise in Pregnancy,” which she has submitted to film festivals. Dr. Reddy also worked as the doctor on set for the most recently released James Bond movie Quantum of Solace.
She is the recipient of numerous honors including a Fulbright Fellowship, the Marian Brody Award for Literary Journalism and the Readers’ Digest Foundation Scholarship for Excellence in Journalism. She has also been invited to speak at the American Medical Associations’ Medical Communicators Conference in April 2008.
