Halloween is a fun time of year! Costume parties, Trick-or-Treating, Carving pumpkins and getting your fill of candy. BUT, there are some potential dangers that come with this Holiday as well! Dr. Sandra Schneider, president-elect of The American College of Emergency Physicians joins the show with some crucial safety tips for your family this Halloween.

President-elect: Sandra Schneider, MD, FACEP, is the immediate past vice president of ACEP. She is an attending physician at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY and a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Schneider served as founding chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester from 1993 to 2007. There she established a residency training program in emergency medicine, and fellowship programs in pediatric emergency medicine, sports medicine, international emergency medicine, and EMS.

During her 25 years as an ACEP member, she has served as board liaison to several committees, including Quality and Performance, Education Meetings, and Academic Affairs. She formerly served on the Board of Directors for the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry. She is the former president of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Schneider earned her medical degree from University of Pittsburgh, and completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Hospitals of the University of Pittsburgh. She is board certified in emergency medicine. She is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed articles and 35 book chapters.
