Mark Perman, MD is the medical director of radiosurgery at North Florida Radiation Oncology Center and The CyberKnife Center @ N.F.R.O. Dr. Perman has been involved in several studies surrounding radiosurgery. He is vice chairman of the Government Relations and Reimbursement committee, CyberKnife Society (2009), and a member of North Florida Regional Medical Center Cancer Committee, Medical Advisor of the American Cancer Society in Alachua County, among many others. Dr. Perman has treated more than 500 patients with CyberKnife Radiosurgery.

Scott, a 64 year-old retired orthopedic surgeon, husband and golf fanatic, was shocked when he was told that he had prostate cancer right after his retirement. Scott first learned about the CyberKnife System through a friend and immediately called his urologist, Dr. David Spellberg, who agreed that treatment with the CyberKnife System was a perfect option. The lack of side effects associated with the CyberKnife System and its precision was an immediate draw for Scott and his wife of 38 years. In May 2006, Scott had five treatment sessions, each lasting about 45 minutes. Scott felt great after each treatment session and even drove himself in so that he could play golf or fish immediately after. Scott did not have any complications or side effects from the CyberKnife System. What’s even better is that three years later, Scott’s PSA is now normal.
