Neal Halfon, MD, MPH is director of the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities. In September 2007, Los Angeles became a study site for the National Children’s Study with Dr. Halfon as the principal investigator. He is a professor of pediatrics in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, health services in the UCLA School of Public Health, and policy studies in the UCLA School of Public Affairs. Dr. Halfon was a member of the Board on Children, Youth and Families of the National Research Council and Institute of Medicine from 2001-2006. In 2006, the Ambulatory Pediatric Association awarded Dr. Halfon its annual Research Award in recognition of his lifetime achievement in the field of pediatric research.
