Professor Shlomo Breznitz received his Ph.D from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His scholarly interests have been in the areas of fear and anxiety and the effects of hope on coping with stress.
He served as the Lady Davis Professor of Psychology and the founding director of the Center for Study of Psychological Stress at the University of Haifa. He has written seven books and numerous professional articles. He also has been visiting professor at leading institutions such as: London School of Economics, Berkeley, Stanford, National Institutes of Health and Rockefeller University.
He has served as both the rector and the president of the University of Haifa.
