It’s tough out there, living on the streets even in a so-called normal economy, but now if you’re a teenager who has been tossed out of the foster care system at 18 or sent packing by your guardians or parents, well, it’s really miserable. We spoke with some of the good guys in San Francisco, the folks at Larkin Street Youth Services, who help pick up the pieces of teen’s lives, by providing them with housing, medical care, education and job training, an alternative to those means streets filled with drugs, prostitution, violence and . . . not much hope for tomorrow.
