Dr. Westby Fisher, an expert in sudden cardiac arrest, is a cardiac electrophysiologist at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. Dr. Fisher leads a team whose research pursuits have brought life-changing device technologies into routine use. The team pioneered a technique called cardiac resynchronization using a bi-ventricular pacing device that re-coordinates the pumping chambers of the heart to improve their function. The team also provides curative options in ablation therapy, including cryoablation, which freezes cardiac tissue that may interfere with the heart’s normal impulses. Dr. Fisher earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago. He then completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center, and he was also a fellow at University of California San Francisco.
