Dr. Kevin Young, a board certified cardiologist on staff at Memorial Hospital, discusses ventricular fibrillation, uncoordinated contractions of the heart muscles that make them quiver rather than contract properly. Ventricular fibrillation puts patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, but there are treatment options, including implanted defibrillators, small battery-powered electrical impulse generators.

A board certified cardiologist on staff at Lake Charles Memorial, Dr. Kevin Young is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky, where he also completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease. In addition to general cardiology, his areas of expertise include pacemakers and defibrillators.
